Tank bred percula clownfish....

I have a question about your listing for tank bred percula clownfish.

I am quite dismayed that you choose to state that a tank bred percula clownfish requires a minimum of 10 gallons. All other clownfish, including tank bred ones on your site, state a minimum of 30 gallons (which is more correct). Why do you state that tank bred percula's only require 10 gallons?

thefishguy3,

We would like to thank you for your post as well as bringing an error on our site to our attention. The Tank-Bred True Percula clownfish should actually have the tank size listed as a minimum of 20 gallons. This information is currently being updated on our site. Again, we thank you for bringing this to our attention.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us again at 1-800-334-3699 or customerservice@liveaquaria.com.

Thank you for correcting the error.

But now your site says that the non tank bread Percula as well as the Ocellaris require a minimum 20 gallons (it stated, correctly so, before the change that they needed a minimum of 30 gallons)

I assume someone correcting the tank bread ones mistakenly changed the non tank bread ones.

Thanks!

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We have modified our site to reflect more accurately the minimum tank size for all of our tank-raised and wild harvested species. Amphiprion ocellaris and Amphiprion percula both have been changed to reflect a 20 gallon aquarium as the minimum tank size. Most clownfish breeders use a 24" 20 gallon high aquarium or a 30" 20 gallon long aquarium to facilitate the spawning of these fish. It has been found that both ocellaris and percula clowns do very well in this size aquarium. This information can also be substantiated by Scott W. Michael in his book "A Pocket Field Guide to Marine Fishes". Scott is a well respected author of some of the most informative fish books out there. He is a great person who has helped thousands of aquarists learn more about the behavior and husbandry of marine aquarium fish and is a friend of mine that I know and trust. If you have any further questions regarding our site please feel free to contact me by email directly through RC or feel free to send me a PM.

Cheers,
