Tank Crash While On Vacation

Auto Top Off failed and that was that.

I had that tank running since 2007 and lost the first fish I put in it that year. I really don't have any words that express my state. Disbelief and horrified comes close.

The only thing salvageable is the sandbed (DSB) and the live rock. I need to step away from this hobbies for now. My question is what is the best way to clean/dry the rock for storage as well as the sand bed?

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,
Sorry to hear this.
Sand bed needs to be cleaned in running water ( big job ).
Might not even be worth it.
Rock should be rinsed & put outside in the sun for about a week to dry completely.
After that it can be stored in a garbage can or tub with a top.

Sorry......it hurts.....unfortunately.

That sand stinky. Smelled like low tide for two days. Got rid of the sand! It has been a good hot week for the rocks. A few of them look like they have iron staines that I can't scrub off. Ever see that? I will post a pic
