Tank Critique

Ok look here five-0 tang Police, I get what you are saying about here but you have to understand that she is only as big as say my thumb. So I promise all of you that as soon as she is too BIG for this tank she will be moved to the 55 gallon tank that we also have. Until this I guess you will just have to write me the ticket as a warning and I will let you know when I move her. She really loves her home and I have not had any problems with her since I put her in there. soooo with that said I thank you all for your comments.
Looked at the ricordia and it does not look like it is melting or changing colors, maybe still getting used to the new tank.
Will let you know if anything changes.
Thanks
Michael

The tank looks good keep going! And as far as the tang police showing up, I wouldn't be to concerned. All of the people on this site have made mistakes at one time or another some just wont admit to making a mistake. I have made plenty myself recently. You have obviously thought it out and it will or could have a new home in the 55g if she gets to big!
Press on man!

Your tang wont be fine for long in such a small tank, remove it soon if you care about keeping it alive. Also the maroon clown will out grow the 24g at some point. I'm surprised you would even consider stocking a tang in a 24g seeing that you work at youreef.

Thats what this site is best for.. Those who have made mistakes or learned from others can then pass it on so others don't do the same as well. I think you guys are missing the point. A 55 gallon tank IS NOT SUITABLE EITHER. Though im not here to be the police i would assume you care about the fish in your care as you do work at a fish store and would want whats best for them. It just concerns me a little more that you work at a fish store and if you think thats ok you will then be telling others yeah go ahead it will be fine in your 55 gallon tank. I also agree about the maroon clown but it can be fine in a 55 gallon tank if any problems did occur in your 24g.

Ya....

you know what i am not getting the hints tips and support i was looking for by posting on here.....all im getting is yelled at......

Forget where i work , come on im 16 im doing the best i can with what i got

On a positive note, i like your tank and at age 16 i think your on the right track. Your tank looks good and can only get better. Before you know it you will be able to afford a nice size tank and can throw any fish you like in there. I was young and worked hard to make as much extra money i can once i learned i couldn't keep all the fish i wanted in my "small" 72 couple years back. Tangs and angels got me hooked in this hobby and made me want to go big as possible, even though my pocket is still hurting from it.

No one is yelling at you... There just trying to say its not best to house a tang in that tank. You could be taking it the wrong way because thats what you want and your frustrated because people tell you not too. I know most of us been there before. Don't get discouraged there is plenty of fish that can do well in your tank, inverts and corals as well. Besides the tang i like your tank and can only say positive things about it. Its just suggestions you do what you want.

wow, are you guys serious, it is not like he took home a clown fish , and put it a fish bowl with some table salt..... hes 16 I bet this is his first job, and a first job to kill for,,, Good luck and take advantage of your new job.

Lose the tang and all will be fine. After the numerous people telling you your wrong I would hope that a young fish store employee like yourself would be wise enough to listen to our advise. I really hope your not telling new customers that tangs and other larger fish are fine to stock in nano tanks by the way..

Realize that not all tips and support are going to be positive, but hey I was 16 once and know that at that age you only listen to the advice you want to hear. Good luck.

Ok now it's my turn......
I am Michael's mom and I have a few things to add to this. We started with a corner tank and unfortunately as many who first start out there was a HUGE learning curve. Not only because you do not know what you are doing, but because the information that you get from one shop to another ranges on the scale from 1 to 50. I still have yet to hear the same thing twice.
But none the less we did not let Mike get his tank until we knew more about what we were doing. His tank is doing great and has only lost a fish due to the anenome.

Let me ask how many of you have been to several different places to purchase fish? And out of all of them how many of them told that you should NOT get a fish because your tank is to small, wouldn't get along with other fish, or would not do well in a reef tank? Or you get the fish because they say that it would do fine only to get home and it eat all the feather dusters you have in your tank?
Believe me you can ask all the questions in the world and not get a straight answer out of most of them!!!!!

Example our first fish were two puffers and a cow fish, how many of you have ever been told when you first started out that the cow puts out toxins when they d
ie and will kill all the fish in your tank?? Well we were never told and lost our fish due to that!
So as far as his Tang goes, she is doing great and she has had no problems what so ever. Most of you may think that she is not suitable for the tank he has her in, but I would not let him keep her in there if she was not doing well.

Michael knows more than most when it comes to salt water fish and caring for them and everything else that goes with it. His fish are his life and he loves his job and what he does. He has an opportunity of a life time working were he does and learning from his boss.
He does a great job at his work doing the crap jobs, like the nasty cleaning and so on with no complaints. And he does his best to answer questions and if he does not know the answer he asks someone else as to not give the wrong answer or advise.

so I believe as far as the tang goes the police need to back off on that and let him get the advise he is looking for. NOT everyone yelling at him for what they think is wrong, I am sure that you all have lived, learned and lost many many things when you first started out.
He is a good kid and would not do anything that would put them at harm. So give the kid a little slack would ya, or just don't comment.

just a protective mom
