Ive had this overly hostile arc-eyed Hawkfish for years. This guy is indestructible, Ive put him in an unheated tank, low salinity, little to no water movement, done everything wrong I can do to him but wrap his evil butt in dessicant and place him under a heat lamp.
The problem with this guy is he either outright kills every fish I put in with him, or he harrasses them till they die. Yeah, Ive tried taking him out, redoing the rock work, adding the other fish first, nothing works, he kills em all. I need to put him in a different tank, but I already have 3, and I dont have room to set up the extra 55 or the spare 20 right now, nor the desire to.
So yesterday at work I'm thinking....this has to be easier than I am making it, you know, one of those times when you are too close to the situation to see the answer clearly. I sit back stop for a minute, think about the situation....BOOM, it hits me like a strike from a mantis....JUST DIVIDE THE TANK DUMMY! 15 minutes after getting home I had the 20 long divided into 2 tanks, just by putting a piece of eggcrate in the middle. Didnt have to add lighting, flow, nothing. Now the Green clown goby I just added Has his own little side, the Hawk has nis, and the crabs are just small enough to make it through to each. DUH! How dumb I felt after solving the issue.
So the short version is....egg crate makes a great tank divider.
