Tank drilling question

So I'm trying to add a sump to a tank that is not drilled without having to get an overflow box. Problem my the bottom glass is tempered I know for sure. Do tanks typically temper just the bottom or all sides? It's. 50 gallon tank that I got from a family member and have no idea who the manufacturer is so I can't ask them.

Hard to know for sure. I've heard stories that the same manufacturer will switch from tempered to non-tempered glass for a given tank size. The polarizer trick is probably your best bet.

Or you could just drill it - if it shatters it was tempered!
