i brought the ocean home
i have tried paper towels on the inside soaked with water and distilled white vinegar and still nothing help i don't want to have to replace the front glass

has anyone polished there tank glass through wet sanding on here all ideas and thoughts would be very heplfull thanks for the help

Straight (full strength) distilled white vinegar and some elbow grease. You said it was glass. You should be able to use some fairly rough sponges on glass without fear of scratching the surface. DO NOT do this if it is an acrylic tank.

If it is a smaller tank then it may be practical to fill it up (outside) and add some vinegar and then let it soak for a while. Of course this would have a lot to do with the tank size. Practical with a 40b or less but not so much so with a 300g. You get the idea.

Good Luck, Good Scrubbing.

90 gallon tank this will be the third time with soaking with paper towel and i have scrubbed my *** off to be honest not the lazy type used scotch brite tried steal pads i was thinking of using a head light buffing kit in one corner to see if it would work

Holy wow... That's some serious stains. I have heard/read about folks using random orbital polishers/buffers (the automotive cleaning type) for this purpose but I can't give any recommendation on the subject. It's not something I have done myself and it seems to be a bit extreme.

i mite have to live with it but hate to.I just ordered 600 bucks wroth of stuff to set this up and this is the last thing before i add water :(

i will get polishing sand paper from my job tomorrow see if it helps on the side next to the wall so if i ruin it doesn't matter

Spent a whole week trying to clean my own 55 that was in pretty bad shape with thick calcium build up, foggy glass, etc. Vinegar soaking, a good scrapping, and a lot of time. It came out better looking but still not what I wanted so I decided to buy a whole new tank and sell the old one. I ended up getting a crystal clear tank cheap and it was well worth it.

DON'T wetsand with sandpaper.. It will leave even more marks/fine scratches.. To get scratches out of glass you need cerium oxide powder and a soft buffing pad. NOT wet sandpaper..

cerium oxide powder aka jewelers rouge
I think ace hardware or other hardware stores "might" carry it.. you can get it online easily though for pretty cheap.
