tank evaporation

so on a 75 gallon how much evaporation dose everyone see on a weekly basis. it seems I am adding 10 to 15 gallons a week. Just wondering

LoL yeah my 90 with 30 gal sump about 2 gal a day, I almost thought i had a leak somewhere.

on my old 54 i went through alittle over 5 gallons a week.. with no chiller using metal halides and t5hos..

i feel privlaged my 90 with 30 gallon sump goes threw 5gallons or less a week.. i do run a chiller now but still mhs, t5hos, and leds.. and i droped the fans..

Wow. I am jealous. Do you have glass tops, or something that keeps your evap down? Or do you have high humidity .

no tops..i do have a canopy but its open on the top and back. it seemed that when i had the fans i lost more than when i didnt.. but i keep my tank at 77-79degrees

My 75 w/ no top and MH loses about 2 gallons per day. I do run fans over the surface of the tank and sump to help w/ cooling.

I have a 120g w 30g sump, covered acrylic top, plus a canopy (open in back). I run LED lights, no high heat MH's, etc. I seem to have to add about 3 gallons every 4 days or so. Is that normal? Are you guys losing so much from the heat put off from your MH's, etc? It sounds like some of you have a LOT of evaporation. I hope my tank is "normal"!

I think its because most of our tanks are not covered. Heat from lights also increase evaporation. In your case that evaporation sounds normal.

I think itis a combination of things skid, My return pump is a submersible so that generates heat, MH lighting, cold dry weather.

I have a 65 tank + 15+ sump. I would say on average 1/2 gallon a day. It depends heavily on relative humidity. In the summer when the AC runs a lot this evaporation rate can take off. I have an open hood and a fan that runs with the MH lights in the summer.

15 a week seems awfully high...i lose about 3-5gal a week on a 95, with a top though...

I have a topoff container with ten gallons of water. I refill it every other day!
Two 250 watt halides and a 150 watt sump light evaporates alot of water.

i use about 60g a week top off water between all my tanks
