Tank for wife

So my wife wants a tank!
We decided to go Nano on hers. I have a 55 gallon with plenty of LR (about 20KG) and plenty of hard corals. A yellow tang and two infant regals.

I was thinking of setting up a 10 to 15 gallon nano for her. Could I use my water (from my 55G) and LR to avoid the cycling process?
Since my water would be mature, LR cured and mature. The nano im setting up will be berlin style. No form of filtration except LR. In fact it will only contain a heater, waterhead and lights.

Thanks!

You would have a very short cycle if any at all. It would be best to wait a week or two before adding any livestock to be on the safe side but it sounds like you have good idea on what to do.

corrupted fish, I set up my 14g on 1/2/07 and 13 days later i have a perc. clown and button polyps(on the 4th day),green star polyps and a red banded hifin goby( on the 10th day) and 3 hermits and a emerald crab today.
everything is doing well all parameters pefect!
I used the water and LR from my 55g and would have used the crushed coral too but I wanted sand in my nano!

There was a very mild spike that came down with in 3 days of startup!
So it should work well for you.
I left the bioballs out and placed LR rubble in the filter chamber instead.
Including the rubble and 2 peices of liverock my polyps came on I probably have about 20 lbs of LR in my 14g biocube.

If you use livestock from your established tank it would have little/no cycle. I still wouldn't put anything in it for a week or two though. If all you're using is LR/LS for filtration I'd keep it very lightly stocked fish wise and you should be fine.

I'm with Kingfisher.... I used "mature" water, sand and LR and had a minor minor spike and had lots of animals in a week or so, all are still healthy
