Tank Height

How thick is the glass? That is why i got a 180 vs a 210. The glass was the same thickness. Read about tank fails too, most are taller than 26" and the glass giving way.

Do none of you know about tools to help you reach into the tank? Why do you need to even get in there?

I try and keep my hands out completely so I have a lot of different tools to help me get things done.

PS, 32" deep and 32" wide here.

It is best to keep hands out. I will check out some long nets, tongs and magnets and scrapers.

For this tank, what magnets and what scrapers do you suggest to clean the glass?

I dont like using mag floats or anything like that, Sand tends to get stuck in it and then you scratch your tank. I use an old credit card, and it works much better then the mag floats.

That sounds like an interesting idea, but then you always have your hands in the tank.

I was thinking of magnets for the upper 2/3rds of the tank so sand won't scratch the glass and then use the long handled scrapers for the glass close to the sand.

So what tools do you recommend?

To answer your question. Yes it will be harder to service if your vertically challenged. I had a 30" but now a 24". No one ever complained about it not looking tall enough. It's the ingredients that impress.

I have two, one long, and one normal, the long ones are cumbersome for near the surface.

And then I have 14" stainless tongs for feeding, although I wish they were only 8"

I have access only in the back of my tank in the fish room, and I have a raised platform so the tank edge is more bottom of my rib cage and not my ears.

No one ever complains about stuff like that. Do people go through you house and complain about cheap art on the walls too?
Whenever I see a short tank it just looks... well short. Even impressive 8' tanks that are only 22 or 24 tall just look.... funny. You have to bend over and get your viewing angle down to just the right angle.
It's hard to have it not look like a fish tank when it's short, tall tanks, you get lost in them.

Not sure of your logic here. I've seen hundreds of tanks in person and on this forum and height never compensated for the awful rockscape or the "cheap art" like you probably have. Personal preference here, never ending argument. I can see where "going bigger" can compensate for some.
