Tank is 10mnth old today

What 8 bulbs are you using to get that rich blue? I've got a smaller tank and only have 4 bulbs. So I'm wondering which ones I should buy to get that blue and still keep good coral growth? I also plan to eventually get a bubble tip so need to make sure they will get enough light

HaHaHa, vulture if you keep being a smart arse......lol :lolspin:

Lol I laughed pretty hard when I read that. I had to say something.

I just pictured an anthropomorphic eagle standing in front of a fish tank drinking a cup of coffee.

I use Giesman bulbs. I run 4 pure whites. 2 blues. 1 purple 1 pink. The Giesman last a lot longer when ramping compared to the ATI bulbs.

Only thing I would change regarding your " picture " is a glass of alcohol defiantly not coffee. Lol

Im with Bent on this one, how do you keep that tank so clean? Looking at the FTS , I can't see a spec of algae or anything on the glass or anywhere. Did you spend 12 hours with a mag float prior to the photo shoot? After moving my 40, from one room to another, I got super pro-active with it, and clean the glass at least a few times a week, and even still, it never looked that squeaky clean. Overall, you have an amazing tank. Whatever magic you are doing, keep it up.

I honestly think the star fire glass and the see through is the secret.
I do clean the glass every 4-5 days with the Tunze Care Magnet. Best investment ive made in this hobby.
I run carbon and a large UV 24/7 and use natural sea water, so no mixing.
All my reefing friends do say I have OCD with regards to algae and they are probably right. lol
Thats the only thing I can think of with regards to clarity of the water.

I also just wanted to mention that we have had a couple of new additions this week.
Please say high to my Trio of Yellow Tangs. (1 existing and 2 newbies)
We stuck to the rule of same size and odd numbers. in fact we tried 2 and it was a nightmare so we added the third and bingo all good. Amazingly after about 10 mins of aggression and setting up the 'leader order" haven't seen any aggression since.
Also new 10 days ago, a sailfin Tang and a Yellow Eye Kole tang, doing great and extremely confident even with the larger more established tangs.
Thanks all for the lovely comments, as a newbie to this hobby I really appreciate it a lot.

 I run carbon and UV as well and my water ain't near that clear. Crap floating all over the place.

Beautiful tank man.

Just had a thought re particulate floating in your water.
I turkey baste the detritus off all the rocks every week along with raking over the sand bed. I always add a filter sock for about 30 mins while doing it and then remove.
I do this regardless of only water changing every 21 days or so.
Maybe that's the secret. ??
