Tank lid question

Right now I have a 35 gallon tank with a 72W PC above it. When I got the tank a while ago though it came with a frosted glass lid. It blocks some light from getting to the tank because it is frosted, and I looking for ways you guys may know of to cover my tank. I don't want to go open top.

You can measure your tank dimensions and determine how thick a lid you want and go to TAP plasitics ( SanMateo ) to make you a custom cutout of thick acrylic ( depends on how thick you want )...

i did...and the one they cut me was the exact same thickness as the glass, only the acrylic bends downwards and into the tank because it is not as rigid as glass.

They also sell thick strips of circular or square sided strips of hard acrylic... just glue the acrylic sticks to the edges of the cover to become a frame... I did that to mine.. dosn't bend anymore... also made some acrylic foot pegs to raise the cover 2-3" off the tank.

I understand the part about raising the lid; but what is the purpose? Doesn't this just allow evaporation to occur?
I am having a hard time picturing the thing about the frame though...I would go to TAP plastic...have them cut a couple pieces of thicker acrylic...and put them where? In the middle?

The two pieces of acrylic are dipping in the middle...so where would the thicker pieces go?
