Tank Maintenance Help

I meet with a really close friend of mine yesterday and learned his wife is going to be battling for her life. Unfortunately, it looks like there are no places locally for her to get the appropriate treatment. My family is going to try to pitch in evenings and weekends to help them as they have a 1 year old.

I am contemplating doing two things, hiring a qualified tank maintenance person who is familiar with sps or having somebody take my nicer, sensitive sps during this time. Please let me know if any of you know somebody for hire who can do some tank maintenance as we may be out of town frequently in the near future. Also just a shot in the dark but let me know if you are familiar with any short term housing options in Charlottesville. Thanks.

Sorry for the news Eugene. I'll be happy to help you in any way that I can. Just let me know what I can do. I can't come over daily, but if you show me what needs done I can make it over weekly or twice weekly to maintain the tank. I would take Nguyen up on the rack space, his tank is immaculate. I'd be scared to house any of your high dollar colonies in my tank. It's just too crowded right now. And I have had a few unexplained cases of STN on previously healthy colonies recently. Everything is stable and within parameters, so I'm not sure what's up.

Most importantly, good luck to your friend and especially his wife.

Also, as far as housing, try:

https://www.airbnb.com

They put up rooms, houses, and apartments for rent. I am going to SF in August and found a decent deal through them. They are really better for longer stays. I have a friend who is a hospital compliance consultant and moves every 3-6 months and she swears by it.

I checked and there are a lot of places in Charlottesville. Worth a shot if you are planning on being up there for any length of time.

Thanks for the PMs and advise. Looks like first surgery will be Friday. The website above was really helpful. Looks like we will rent an apartment off that site. I will let those who offered help know if or when I will move some stuff. I have a guy hired to take care of the house, fish and dog when I am gone, fish guy person checking once a week.

Check with Justin at Ultimate Aquariums in Daleville, I think someone told me he does tank maintenance on the side. If he does not do it then he may know who does

Your friends will be in our thoughts, Eugene. As always if there is anything we can do to help just let us know. Glad the website was helpful.
