Tank move opinions needed

Opinions needed: I just picked up a cheap acrylic 120 tank. My current setups are an Oceanic 120 tech tank in my living room that is my reef tank. I need to move (bad advice from my townhouse builder) this tank to a different wall. I also have a 72 bow in my dining room that is my fowlr tank. This tank will be replaced by one of the 120's. I am getting a Novus Acrylic repair kit and cleaning up the new tank before I do anything else.

Now I have a couple of choices to make:

1. Take the acrylic tank put it in the correct location in my living room and use it as my reef tank. Clean out the tech tank and move it to my dining room and put the contents of my fowlr into the tech tank.

2. Empty almost all of the water out of the tech tank into a 100g stock tank and then with the help of my son and one of his friends slide the tech tank into the correct location. Set the acrylic tank up in my dining room as my fowlr tank.

I am torn on this. I like the rimless look of the acrylic tank. But I am not wild about disturbing everything in my reef tank. I have been back and forth on this for days.

Help please"¦.

The FOWLR will be the easiest by far to move. I would just use new substrate so you don't risk a cycle by disturbing your current stuff. Make sure to seed the new stuff with a couple cups of your old sand. Then in one quick swoop move everything over starting with half the water, then the rock, then the livestock and powerheads, then the rest of the rock and equipment and bang you should have moved without disturbing a thing.

As long as your not adding any more LR you shouldn't start a cycle. Oh, and of course your going to want to make up for the additional water you'll need in the new tank before you start moving. Make sure you have that all up to temp and matching salinity before you start the move.

This could all be done with the reef pretty easily as well, but of course you have to take extra caution with your coral. People have moved tanks across states though, so you have the benefit of only moving across the room :)
