Tank overhanging stand

I recently bought a 90g acrylic tank which slight overhangs a stand I had previously. It hangs about 1/4 inch over the front and back only. The overhang doesnt even go out the width of the acrylic. is this acceptable? or should I rebuild the stand?

You could put another top (simple piece of plywood or whatever you want) on the stand. Heck, you could eve just set the ply on top of the existing stand.

I figured that if I needed to add anything I would add a layer of 2x4s on their side, using them to extend the existing portion of the stand about an inch. Then put a plywood deck on top of that.

You might not need to add the 2x's. How far would the new deck overhang the base? 3/4 ply should be able to handle a decent overhang on it's own.

The plywood would only overhang by about 1/4 to 3/8ths of an inch.

That shouldn't be hardly any strain at all.
