Tank overtaken by mushrooms

My 265 had a crash years ago that almost ended our hobby together. That being said I kept it going just barely for the next few years with rare water changes and poor maintenance. So of course now that I'm trying to get it back in shape I am filled to the gills with red and blue mushrooms. I know there aren't any fish will get rid of them and I don't want to pull the rock . My idea is to increase the flow . Does anyone think this will work ?

Personally, I think it's a sweet looking tank... but that's just me. �� Add some fish and forgettaboutit. You want to send me a few rocks covered with mushrooms, I'll pay extra for shipping.

Looks nice. Trade the rocks out for new ones. You could probably get $60 a rock or more depending on how many shrooms are on the rock

Do you know that blue mushrooms, especially yours, go for 20 bucks each up in the north.
I wish I had such a problem!

Thanks, the top right is just another nightmare for me . Common green button polyps. I switched tanks about 15 years ago from a 135 . The entire back glass was covered with them . My problem is that most of my rock is very large pieces so I can't pull it out piece by piece.plus I really don't have a place that I can take them to.

With those kind of softies, I would see it as an opportunity to keep some cool 'coral-risky' fish in an attractive lush tank. The 265 gallon volume would mean you could keep some nice angels and butterfly fish. There are two tanks that have a lasting memory for me: 1 was a large tank covered in sinularia housing some holocanthus angels, and one was a softy tank with some nice butterflyfish. The other thing I would add is that my sinularia and leathers seem to handle mushroom crowding fine, so you could add some of those for some variety.

Have a bunch of hammer coral I'd rather keep . My goal is a more mixed coral tank . I like the pretty sticks too. but the thought of a fat six bar angel is something to think about!

As you said,"increase the flow" I blasted mine with a power head and by the second day they were loose and floating around the tank. Then you can net them out and sell them.

Yeah do this if it does not work razor blade them off. Throw them in a container with holes. They will all heal and you can get store credit for them.

That tank is pretty awesome as is. But I get where you're coming from. As others mentioned, I would try to sell/trade some of those rocks to local reefers or for store credit.
