Tank Pictures

Well after many requests and a little prodding, I finally took some snapshots of our tank. The pictures aren't the best, just snapshots reduced from 8 megapixel down to 1024x768 so the quality is lacking.
I hope to get some more including a full tank shot and some equipment pictures soon also.
So, here they are:

And finally, does anyone know the actual name of this macro we have growing in our tank? I'm pretty sure it is a sargassum, but don't know the full name.

SWEET! Thanks for posting the pictures! Your tank is just as amazing as you described it to me. It makes my tank look like a piece of crap.

Aww come awn Minh, your tank is just as nice.
The only thing I described as amazing is the pink digi, just because I haven't seen one before. :)
Have you seen one like it?

Haven't see one that pink. It's just amazing. If you ever decide to sell a frag, let me know. I might be interested. :D

If those aren't the best pictures, I'd hate to see some good ones. Might burn my eyes out.

Ditto on the digitata.

And I concur that I think the macro is a sargassum. I had some growing in my tank too for about six months, got to be about a 5" square mass, then it suddenly self destructed for some reason. Didn't dissolve, just started fragmenting and falling apart. I haven't seen it anywhere else but it sure bears a striking resemblence to some of our pacific kelp beds in its general appearance.

Minh,
Stop by next time you are up at John's and we can swap some frags/etc... :)

Jahreefster,
Thanks. The pictures look much clearer in full resolution is all I meant.
The macro has been growing now for ~ 9+ months and I have had to prune it back many times. It is time for pruning again as it has grown to the surface and is starting to spread out, blocking the light.
I have another small stand of it on the other side of the tank, but it doesn't get as much light and as such is much smaller. I thought it looked an awful lot like our bull kelp also.
I usually describe it as a miniature version of bull kelp.

Thanks,
Donovan

wow!! amazing pics and tank! That macro gives it a real natural look. And that digi is awesome, please oh please can I buy a frag?

Thanks for the compliments. :)
I will let you know when I frag it.
Most of my frags end up at John's store, so check there from time to time! :)

Nice tank! The macro is sargassum. I would prune it often so it doesnt take over the tank. It is a great algae for nutrient export.

The tangs won't touch it. I have two of them and they just keep it clean, but never eat any of it.

I will try to get a full tank shot this weekend.

Thanks,
Donovan
