What is the ideal placement for my Kenya Tree Coral? On a rock or in the sand bed? It did come attached to a small piece of rock. This is my first coral so any help is great!!!!!
I would think anywhere, but sand might be better. If you put him on the rock, it may take over the rock and if you get bored of it, it will make it easier to pull out if you place him on the sand.
I have 2 Kenya corals & 1 is in the sand under (AI Vega at 40%)it accidentally fell between 2 rocks & I was lazy & didn't want to move rocks to get at it. It is doing well. The other is up high under the maxspect razor on 40% and it's doing well in that spot too.
here are my 2 kenya trees in both locations. The one in the biocube 29 is over 1 year old and the other is a frag from the biocube and has been growing well…even though it was originally lost between 2 rocks. I didn't use coral glue and thought it would stick in the pukani rock…obviously I was wrong.
You could try some mushrooms, galaxia coral (be very careful on placement at the sweeper tentacles can reach 4-6 inches) or a birds nest coral or cactus coral. Another easy coral is Zooanthids & they look really intense under actinic bulbs. The Hammer coral is fairly easy too. Easy is a relative word, tank placement, lighting & water chemistry play a very important role. The mini maxi anemone is pretty cool too but should be added after the tank matures (6 months in my opinion).
