you quoted my statement... i am not the one looking for advice here... i was saying one does not need any macro if you have a dsb... and i know cheato doesnt go sexual... used to use it, but it jus died cuz it had nothing to feed off of...
so your telling him to feed his tang only 2 to 3 cubes per week? and then not to feed but 2 times a week without the tang? this is nonsense...with the tang, he needs to eat PLENTY everyday... do you only eat twice a week? horrible advice coming from someone questioning others advice... i mean seriously? my fish get fed 4 to 5 times a day without any issues whatsoever..
someone also said that flakes are bad for increasing nutrients... that i dont agree with either... frozen and meaty foods contribute far more to phos and trates... good flakes are very good foods, jus usually not enough to sustain most species...
I was just adding some more information for the op, please do not be offended, I was not be belittling your information, rather I was simply elaborating on some of it.
As I said, it was good advice, I just remembered when I first experienced my caulerpa going sexual; I was completely baffled and it was hard to find any information.
Since you mentioned macros if figured I would just add it in case op decided to buy any. I apologize if you felt I was trying to counter you in any way. As I sated it was good advice.
Did everyone not even read what I suggested to him?
OP read my post and do what I said. I suggested rational, easy fixes that won't cost you any money besides salt for water changes. Not doing water changes weekly are people's biggest mistake in keeping any kind of tank. If you do weekly 10-15% w/c's in your case I'd do 20%, you will find that you won't have any algae problems or excess nutrient problems.
I had a growing algae problem and I was only doing w/c's once every two weeks at 10%. Actually every two weeks is an understatement as I was lucky to do even do that. Last month I changed three things. I added another 1400gph powerhead, started dosing vodka/vinegar and dosing Micro Bacter 7, along with starting a religous weekly w/c schedule of 15%. I am gaining the upper hand on my cyano and algae problem. The hair algae is all gone, and I am getting the cyano under control finally. It won't happen overnight, and it won't happen in a week. I promise you though if you take my advice on page 5, after a month you will see a big difference.
Good luck, and take everything you hear on this site or any site with a grain of salt and some hard thought common sense.
Are suggesting that everyone else who has given him advices have no clue whats going on but you are the only one who knows what you are talking about? Everything you suggested is a restatement of most of the things that have been mentioned through out the tread minus a few.
55reef, you have been following the thread and have seen all the advices thats been give, the only thing left is for you to pick out what would be the most beneficial for your situation. Good luck.
