Tank Problems...

Well for the past month, my tank has been growing alage like crazy! I have been doing nothing differently. Salinity is around 1.024-5. Temp is right around 78-80. My softies are doing fantastic, while i'm starting to get recession on my sps corals....a real bummer!

I'm gonna try to do some drastic water changes over the next 2 weeks. 50 gallon tank...figure a 10 gallon water change every 6 days or so. I don't know what else to do to get rid of this algae. I can also only suck so much of it up b/c some of it is on the rock good. And i've got corals stuck on rock so i can't take the rock out and scrub it like crazy. I'm getting rather frustrated and don't want to be dropping any money into the tank right now b/c i'm getting myself a Harley on April 29th and i'm putting my money towards that, and some new accessories for it.

Have you blow off your rock and more than you used to or started feeding more, filters worn out? Something is adding to it, question is from where.

Been in your shoes, really feel your pain, did the algae problem for 3 years and finally shut the whole tank down. Been algae free 6 months now, knock on wood.

You need to find the source, its there, it doens't just happen.

How old are your bulbs? Any chance the spectrum's changed recently? That may throw the tank off a little and cause an algae bloom.

I'd do 15g every 5-7d & check the TDS on my RO/DI.
