Hi there
I'm new to forum and planning a large trapeze tank
I have tropical fish tanks from a long time 20+ years buy this will be my first marine so PLEASE be patience with me :)
All will be done by my self but I need some advices from you guys !!!!
first will be the tank
TANK.jpg

the question is about the overflow; is it god to have two pipes going down and one up or is better to have one down and one up?
plus what size the pipes should be for this build and tank capacity and how strong the pomp I will need to provide god water flow and turn up per hour ?

Well your current drain set up is. Use the terms drain and return for easier communication.

1 return with 2 drains is fine. That way you can set your drains up Herbie and have a safe and quiet drain into your sump. :)

and also can any one have any ideas how the light should look for this trapeze tank and how I can build one (project will help :) )?

thanks and sorry for the terminology but English is not my first language and the terms for the marine tanks are new to me to :)
can you tell me how high I should go with the return pipes from the bottom of the tank ?

No problem I assumed that and wasn't trying to be mean just want to help you out so you can better communicate your questions.

Now for the return it is plumbed up through the bottom in the overflow correct? Its height would be bases off the overflow height and you would only go as high as the overflow then plumb it how you like from there. Lock line returns etc...

How are you handling flow. Do you want your return pump to supply most the flow or internal pumps? That will also determine how many return nozzles or outlets you plumb of the single return.

You not meen just informative and thats great!!!! As this is what I was looking for!
I will have two power heads if thats what you asking ;)bouth will be twin head 12000 liters per hour. but I also try to have pomp as strong as needed to pomp the wather up and all the way to the other side of the tank!plus I was told that the stronger the flow the bether ?!

Also I was in my local marine shoop two hours ago and I was told that I wil DEFINYTLY need the reactor in the sump?! Is this needed or they just try to make extra sale?
Plus they told me to keep away from the sand in the sump and the tank to? Just algee in the sump and rock in the tank?!

Lights dont really matter on how they look above the tank. A normal size fixture would be fine as long as its close to the dimensions of the tank.

Yes the more the better you will be. You want to, have the total volume of the tank to be filtered between 30 to 40 times an hour for optimal flow.

So, say your tank is 30 gallons, You want the 30 gallons of water to be cycled thru 30 to 40 times an hour. The reason for this is to have water current thru the entire tank so you dont have waste sitting in one spot, and causing a water condition issue.

You don't have to have a reactor or a skimmer or a this and that. It all depends on how your tank handles nutrients etc... I ran my 120 without a skimmer over a year just fine and as my load increased finally decided yo get one as it only benefited the tank.

For water flow. That's good to have the power heads internally for high turnover. You only want your return pump to be 4-5x turnover so your skimmer or refugium in the sump can work properly. How many gal is this?

about the light. light will be two sets of lights one 3f with 8 T5 bulbs and second 3f with four T5 bulbs with combinations of colours.

the tank will be 250gal plus sump 72gal

No bio balls. If you want anything to go in that space use filter socks for mechanical. Bio-balls accumulate nitrate

will do just that then thanks allot for this advice!!!
what about using the staff which should go to the reactor but only dump in some sort of sock in the pomp chamber then as I seen something like this before ???
any point for doing this or no bother

thanks. so no other creasy ideas for now :)
and what about this sand in the sump and tank?
what problem they may have with this ?
and do I should ad small live rock to the sum to or not ?

In the tank its up to you. I prefer sand for the visual aspect and it does help filter the water but it needs a good cleaning every so many years. My sump is exactly like yours and in my refugium I have lots of small Lr with no sand and I leave about 3" above the rocks for chaeto macro algae to grow .. It seems to like being near the surface

brilliant then sump will get live rock and algae !
and since is up to me to use sand in tank or not I will definitely use white sand, but only about 1" and with every 4 weeks I will filtrate all when replace 1/4 of tank water

With only 1" you don't really need to clean it each week or month. Having good water flow usually is enough to keep it clean and free of fish poo. But every couple years a good vacuuming of the sand isn't a bad idea. Especially for deeper sand beds. You'd be surprised at what can build up in sand over the years.
