Tank questions

I was originally planning on using a 20high for my pair of H. Erectus I'm supposed to be getting this summer(CB). However I just recieved a 36gallon bowfront tank setup. Is this too big for my seahorses? What kind of filtration would you suggust for this kind of tank if it can be used for seahorses?

Also, can gonaporas/polyps/mushrooms be kept in a seahorse tank?

And lastly, Would that be a big enough tank for two pairs? namely H. Erectus and I think its a pair of reidie(spelling?) that I saw at my LFS that is CB and eating frozen.

The tank would be big enough for four horses.

The types of filtration would depend on the way you plan on setting up your system. I like to use LR, and LS, as well as a cannister connected to a UV. I think that refugiums are great.

You could just get a HOT cannister like the Magnum, and be fine if you had sufficinet bilogical filtration.

The tankmates you listed in regards to corals are fine.

Beofre you mix species of seahorse look into it a little bit, there are a few recent threads tat discuss the topic.

Thanks for your reply. I plan on setting up LS/LR about 10-15lbs, and then hitching posts.
I have a question tho- UV sterilizers, doesn't that kill all the bacteria that flows through it, good or bad? Don't I want a healthy bacteria culture in my tank to keep things in check?- At least that what I think you mean by "connected to uv"

UV's do kill any bacteria that pass through it.

The benificial bacteria that grows on your liverock will not be effected, however free floating micro algaes, and disease causing pathogens as well as parasites will be killed. Translates to healthier fish and clearer water.

I am one to over filter. I run an 18W UV on my system, mainly because I am paranoid. There are good models for much cheaper like the 9w turbo twists.

With that little LR I would definetly go for a nice filter such as the magnum HOT or maybe a fluval. I like the fluvals myself but have heard great things about the cannister.

If it is possible I would setup a refugium/sump under the tank. It is easier to drill it now when it is empty. There are many advantages my favorite being not looking at all the equipment in the tank, but I guess the nutrient export, huge pod population, and stabalized PH are good to.

I just bought a 46g bowfrount. When you said to drill it were you telling Fairytail to drill the new tank or the fug/sump. The reason i ask is my new tank is not drilled.
