Tank raised clownfish hard to get to host bulb tip

How long do you wait? It can take a very long time, and sometimes they pick something other than the nem like mushrooms or euphyllia or a mag float. What kind of clowns are you using. Entamacea quadricolor is not a natural host to occelaris or percula, but a maroon may swim right into it. Of course the premnas biaculeatus clowns can be very aggressive and require a bit more room.

You might get some better info posting this question in the clownfish and nem section.

Probably hosting a overflow or a powerhead!
I will never buy tank raised clowns again . Save the earth but kill all natural instincts in a clownfish! To much inbreeding and overbreeding makes them dumb !
Good luck!
The guy i bought my tank raised clowns said to tape a picture to the aquarium or show them a video of natural clowns hosting there anemonies! Whatever maby the breeder should take on this responsibility of being a responsible parent.

How big is the anemone??

6 months ago I picked up a large RBTA 16"++ across, that my B&W occ. pair hosted in less than a week. 3 weeks ago the nem split into two and the pair still host the nems.

I think the bigger the nem the better the chances your fish will host it. I'd say a 6"+ nem would give you better results..?

I have to disagree with this. I think that buying captive bred animals as an alternative to wild is good for the future of the hobby. I do not think anyone should discourage it. Hopefully more fish become available.

My ORA Picasso clowns went into a GBTA within a few hours of putting it into the tank. There had been a RBTA in the tank for a while before I got the GBTA, but they never touched it. They like green for whatever reason.

I got tired waiting for my black ice pair, so I added a pair of maroons for 2 RBTA....They're one big happy family.

My ora snowflakes hosted my rbta pretty quickly; one within 10 minutes of being put in the tank.
I had 1 snowflake before I bought the rbta and it started hosting the anemone a couple days after it was added.
I also had a regular $10 tank raised clown that hosted my anemone as soon as it went in the tank. The $10 clown was in a tank at the LFS with 20 other clowns and 8 or so btas. Most of them swam in the anemones.

There are probably as many tank raised clowns that do host anemones as don't. The same could be said about wild caught clowns. Fish have a mind of their own, just because they didn't go in right away doesn't mean they never will. You can't really blame anything other than your own impatience. Nothing is fast in this hobby except disaster.

Exactly! Everything you need to know about clownfish & anemones ( and our hobby in general) in one paragraph.

I have 2 different pairs of tank bred occ clowns, One pair went right into the gbta and in the other tank there are no nems. They finally took host in my large hairy mushrooms about 6 months later. Also they switched back and forth between those and a nearby hammer coral. Now they just stick with the shrooms.

It took a small native perc to entice my false perc pair into one. Then they chased him off and have been there every since. over 3 years now.
