Tank raised flame angel

Anybody out there having experience keeping flame angels in SPS reef?
I had a wild caught one, and was picking on Acro polyps and had to take out.
I notice there are tank raised flames available and wonder if those behave, or is it just a crap shoot with them regardless.

With almost any angel its a crap shoot if they pick at corals or not. you can try adding something for him to graze on so he will leave the corals alone. That sometimes works.

+1...you never know!

Healthy corals MIGHT help, certainly they get picked on less often...
BUT, you just never know. Adding *ANY* fish to a tank of corals usually entails a bit of risk. Its just more with some families of fish than others!

I thought maybe the changes are less with a tank raised specimen since its been fed only probably dry food...

actually I have heard from RCT(reef culture tech) that there has been no reports of their captive bred centropyge angels picking corals. The reason being they never learned to do that because they were never on a reef watching other angels. I dont know if its true but I do remember hearing that In regards to that company. And since they have the MOST success with breeding rare and sought after angels Id be inclined to believe it.

I, personally (( and this is just my opinion )), don't believe that -- they (( the angels )) have been nipping at corals for thousands of years, just being tank raised/breed for one generation is going to stop that.

It is similar to tank breed/raised clowns -- they are still hosted by anemones, even if they never saw one until released into our tanks. Instinct is a very very powerful thing, my tank breed A. polymnus were hosted by an S. haddoni (( natural host )) within minutes of being released.

clowns huttle in massive groups in fry and grow out tanks. they dont do that in the wild..where did they learn that from? I think instinct and learned actions are different things here. But thats just my 2 cents. I am just reiterating what I read on a forum from what most would consider a reliable source. I have no expertise with tank raised pygmys as Ive never owned one.
