Tank size for Genicanthus?

What do you guys think would be the minimum tank size for an angel in the genus Genicanthus? Specifically Genicanthus bellus and Genicanthus melanospilus. Thanks guys!

They like to swim. Six foot long minimum. But why keep a fish in a minimum sized tank?

Well I say minimum because it wouldn't be in my 75 gallon for more than a year before I upgrade to a 180 gallon. Maybe I'll just wait until I have my 180 set up which like I said will be in a year or so, or whenever I have the money. Would a 180 gallon be large enough to house a pair of G. melanospilus?

In my opinion yes. Keep in mind that length is the most important dimension.

+1 I would love to get a pair of G Semifasciatus.

I got 2 female Watanabe (roughly 2") in Nov or Dec 2007 and the male is easily 6" now. Got 2 female Bellus (2" & 3") in Feb 2008 an both females are aound 3" and 4.25". I think you should be fine with 2 small Bellus for a year or so b4 moving them to a 180.

Since genicanthus are planktivores do they graze on live rock like other angels? Just curious.

Not that I can see...mine eat frozen and pellets. The Watanabes will take nips at live clams on half shell but moves on after couple of nips. Not sure if they would move on if they didn't have to compete with the larger angels and trigger.
