tank size for small stingray?

I'm new to this hobby and am gathering info. I'm trying to decide what size tank to get. Can someone tell me how big I need to get if I want to have one small stingray? Thanks!

stringrays are frequently very difficult, just so you know. They are notoriously poor eaters. Furthermore, they need a very specialized tank. Very wide and long, but not necessarily tall, and very little structural decoration, with a very fine sandbed. Most people I have heard of try to squeeze them into a reef tank with tons of live rock, and the animal just fades away and dies due to stress and innappropriate housing. If you going to do this, get a tank that's a good 3 or 4 foot square (at the minimum), and only put a few small rock bommies, if you must. Like I said, if you want to go this route, you'll have to specialize.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to rethink this and even though I love stingrays, I might just have to enjoy them at an aquarium.

I had a california sting ray in my 75 gallon FOWL he died in about 3 weeks. I think he mainly died because i have a crushed coral as my substrate...he ate ok he ended up with some sort of bacteral infection so i wouldnt reccomend one IMHO.
