What do you guys reccommend as the minimum size?

Would a aquapod 24 with 150 HQI Work?

I wanna do a cube or should i go for a 30 Bow Front?

Akindynos clowns can get kinda large. I had a couple pairs where the females where around 4-5 inches or so. I'm not sure if I would keep them in anyting smaller than a 40 breeder. JMHO tho.

It will only be them in the tank

It will only be them in the tank

It will be a species tank. Just the two clowns and the rock and the anemone

Maybe some one who has kept them in something smaller can help. I just remember mine growing on the large side and wouldn't keep them in less than a 40g. That's just my oppinion not saying it's right way or only way to do it.

i have two very large chrysopterus clowns (5 to 6 inches) in a 45 gallon cube with 6 chromis and an exceptionally large h. crispa anemone. the dimensions are 24x24x18 and im partially wishing the tank was a foot larger in each direction.

the clowns are healthy, but i get the feeling they would be relaxed enough to breed in a larger body of water.

The reason why

The reason why

I want to go with a that tank is that i will have nothing but the clowns and the anemone and some hermits and snails

what im saying, is that with some adult clowns, 24 gallons may just be too small. even with just an anemone and the two clowns. thats essentially the set up i have in a 45 gallon, and it still seems a bit restrictive.

for two juvenile clowns, it will work. it will depends on what size fish you initially acquire.

I can't imagine keeping my akindynos pair in a 24 cube. They occupy about 1/3 of my 120. Its 5 foot x 18 inches x 30 inches high. They command a good 2 foot of the length of the tank. If it were all theirs, I'm sure they would use the whole tank. And a big clown makes really big poop. I don't think a 24 could handle it, unless you had some serious filtration going.

Akins just are not comfortable in a small space and will generally suffer for it.

Forget about the filtration side of it, that can be dealt with. The space side of it can not. I would never put my pair in anything less than a 3' tank. I have had them in QT in a 29g, and they did not fair well at all. The QT time was frankly worse for them, than the internal parasites.

I have

I have

A juvinile in 6 gallon tank now about 8months old with a Green Bubble tip. It will be a aqua pod 24 gallong with metal halide or a 30 bow front?

The aquapod scares me if i leave all the filter pads and crap in the back but i would hollow it out and put it cheato. I dont know if the tank is 24 gallons but 3 gallons in the filter in the back..

The 30 gallon bow front is nice and i think it would work better.. But i need to find another akiny juvi and a nice bubble tip... Also a light for the 30 bow is expensive.

The aquapod contains the filter and lights

reefvette,

Why did you bother posting this question if you're just going to argue against what everyone says?

If you're not going to listen to what anyone has to say, do whatever the heck you want and don't come crying to the forum when your nem dies or your clowns are stressed out by too small of a tank for them and they die.

I'm setting up a 29 gallon Nano right now to put my pair of percs in so that I can put a larger pair of clowns in my 125. I would never consider placing larger clowns in my 29, so I can't imagine how you would be considering placing them in a AP 24.

If you already have a 150W halide it will be enough light for a 30g bow. Is it a hanging fixture or a hood? You can get feet for alot of the hoods to extend enough to go over a few more inches.
