Tank slide

i moved one thing in my tank, and a few others followed(they fell).. my question is, some of the acros that i had to take out of the water for a few min look like they lost a little color, mainly where they were handled.. polyps still there, and they come out but the tissue looks faded.. not receeding but faded as they have been handled.. i dont like the way the rock stack and coral placement is now, but dont want to stress them more.. should i wait and let them recover from being handled and out of the water or go ahead and fix the way it looks now?? my tank just really started to take off with growth and dont like that i probably just took a step back.. what should i do??

Do not fret! I have constantly moved and replaced my coral structure in the beginging to get it right, had numerous land slides.

Here's a tip, use zip ties, can get a bunch from dollar store, tie together or get large ones, but in less then a month they will be covered with coraline, so no worries.

I would just use the zip ties, dont wait and rearrange them til you get it right then leave them alone, I have done this numerous times and they colored right back up.

make sure your water parameters are correct though.

ps sps corals often spend hours baking in the sun in reef flats, so no worries, about keeping them out for a few min, I say 10 min is max but thats me.

best of luck

it was less than 10 min.. but im kinda worried my ora blue milli has color loss at the base where i handled it, still has PE, even in the faded area, will the faded area just color back up(still has PE)??.. i just left them where they are, i dont want to bug them anymore.. also would doing a WC rite now be a bad idea?? i dont want to stress them anymore..any insight would be appreciated..thanks..

dont sps corals on the reef often come out of water on heavy low tide situations. I think your corals will be fine. Just give them time to recover. Move them where you think they should be as long as you dont beat them up too much.

hey sorry been busy

I will say this, if your corals are sliming heavily then yes a decent water change isnt too bad, or make sure oyur skimmer or ozone is on and working proeprly. I would then get your rocks zip tied and or puddied together and just take your time with coral placement, sps need to be permanently mounted and then you will get your color back. I suggest zap gel, or something similar, give them a few weeks and color will be back and hopefully by that time encrusting the surrounding base.

good luck
David
