Tank stocking list. Input wanted.

I am in the process of picking up a 150g-200g RR Oceanic tank(pending on what deal works out), sump etc etc etc. I'm going to make this into a reef tank and have been trying to come up with a good stocking plan before I get the tank and that way I know what I am going to get and don't get something that won't work. I keep my SG at 1.024 and will have close to if not over 200 lbs of LR in the tank. Anyways, here is the list I have currently. I will add/subtract fish as needed.

1 Yellow Tang- Zebrasoma Flavescens
1 Naso Tang- Naso Lituratus
1- Powder Blue(or brown)- Acanthurus Leucosternon
1- Kole Tang- Ctenochaetus Strigosus
2- Golden Head Sleeper Goby- Valenciennea Strigata
3- Firefish Goby- Nemateleotris Magnifica
1- Snowflake Eel- Echidna Nebulosa
8- Blue/Green Chromis- Chromis Viridis
2- Jewel Damsel- Microspathodon Chrysurus
2- Fale Ocellaris Clowns- Amphiprion Ocellaris
1- Gold Striped Maroon Clown- Premnas Biaculeatus
3-5 Banggai Cardinals- Pterapogon Kauderni (captive bred only)
1- Lemon Peel Angel- Centropyge Joculator
1- Flame Angel- Centropyge Loriculus
1- Coral beauty Angel- Centropyge Bispinosus

Sunstrate will be aragonite black/white sand, blue and red legged hermits, Cleaner Shrimp, Nasssrius snails and astrea snails will be used as well plus the addition of many pods. Also, Calurpa will be grown in the sump/fuge. Is this too many fish or should they be ok? I feed a TON of different foods and there will be plenty of rock work for "freedom" from others. And of course, after the tank is setup, there will be NO additions until at least 1.5 moths. Thanks

Please Critique my list. This is everything that I would like to have but obviously you can't always have your cake and eat it too. I'm not sure about corals yet, but I would like mushrooms, one or two BTAs, polyps, etc.

wow, 29 fish? :eek1: I have a 120, which is just six inches shorter than a 150 and I have 8 fish and am thinking of adding one, maybe two more. Is the eel reef safe? The naso will probably get huge. The powder blue is very active and can be aggressive. The maroon can be aggressive. Lemonpeel's are known to eat up corals. Coral beauties sometimes too. And that's a whole lot of fish poo in your future to have to export somehow.

Yes the list is currently 29. But at the bottom of my last post it says "Please Critique my list. This is everything that I would like to have but obviously you can't always have your cake and eat it too." Sorry, I'm not trying to be mean, as I did ask for help and you responded, but I also am not an irresponsible fish keeper either and want to make that clear.

Yes, I read the whole post and put down some things that I know about some of the various fish. I didn't say anything about being irresponsible, was just surprised by the number of fish and that some of them get pretty big. Hope it works out for you.

remember some of the fish, some of the tangs can get agressive toward other tangs

this is just going to be a fish only tank or are you going to have some corals or clams

I would remove
1. The eel (will eat anything it can)
2. The 2 damsels (MEAN)
3. At least 1 Tang maybe 2 (large fish) I would keep the yellow and add a purple and skip the rest but that is just me
4. The maroon clown( will kill the other clowns)
5. Be prepared to move 3 bangiis once two pair up.
6. Be careful with the angels (coral eating ect.)
7. Get a good skimmer.
Basicly shooters ideas are pretty good.

Hi Adam,

I think it would be okay to keep those tangs together, although I don't have any personal experience with the Kole tang. I have a Naso, Powder Blue, and Regal tang together. They get along great, but it is a good idea to add them to the tank at the same time. My only suggestion would be to be careful of aggressive fish, like the damsels, because once they are in the tank, it is a real pain to get them out.

Also, I read somewhere that as long as the family name of the tang is different from all the other tangs, they shouldn't have any aggressive issues with each other. For example, the achilles tang and powder tangs are "Acanthurus" along with many others, so it is especially difficult to keep them together unless you have an enormous tank. On your current list they are all different, which is why I think it should be okay.

I would like to make it a reef tank. I will take off the damsels, the eel and the angels for sure. I'll probably only get 3 Cardinals, I just wanted more at first to hopefully get a pair. I thought the Tangs should be ok because like Jenny said, they are all from different families and I had the same kinds other than the powder in my 135 with no problems. I keep them very well fed (2 algae clips in the tank always stocked). Shooter 7 I hear where you are coming from, hope you saw my side too.

in my novice opinion that might be too many tangs.
don't let anyone talk you out of the chromies!
but be prepared to loose a couple.
they are neat when the stabilize out. adds lots of fun fishy movement to the tank.
they have a way of wacking each other one by one though.

add slow and keep us updated with pics!

the only eel i have heard of anyone keeping without losing fish really if fed well is garden eels, but no eels saves money on fish or inverts, plus others like me have probally lost one out top of tank.
