I just put the stand for my new 150g in the living room and realized this sucker looks huge in this room. I don't know if I want in there now. My wife is definately not thrilled. Has anyone had this problem before? What do I do now? The basement has plenty of room for it but we don't use it that much. I wanted this to go in a higher traffic area.

Thats nothing wait till your aquarium is so big it has to come in through the window cause it cant fit through the door. Family wasnt too happy about that one

Drag it out to the curb for the trash man to pick up!

But be sure you post you address and the exact time you plan to drag it out there here first. Then stand back and watch us line up in front of your house.

Yeah no walls had to be removed to get it in so she got of light. And if my wife had her way I would be marching it out to the curb. What to do now? This pretty much sucks!

I wish I had your problem. Maybe you could put it in the basement as a giant sump and pump it up to the living room where you can have a smaller tank packed full of fish.

The idea was to use the 90g I have as a sump in the basement and pump that back to the big tank. I paid quite a bit of money for the stand so I kind of want to use it.

Paint the stand the same as the walls, makes the tank look like its floating. Paint the back of the tank the same, everything will stand out alot less. :hmm3: Go to the jewlers and get a great v-day present. You might just get away with it!:twitch:

Use the 150G as sump, get a smaller tank for display, use the remaining space beside the tank for a TV and play some reef video, and turns it off when she is home. :D

i like the valentine idea best. distraction will be key in this marital
situation. offer to let her pick the first fish and name it, with a little persuasion to chose a proper fish of course.

Buy a bigger house ? ! .
Talk about distractions!

get rid of the couch, tv, coffee table, and any chairs you may have
the tank will appear smaller

or, aren't there colors to paint the walls to make the room look bigger?

I say fix up your basement, put the tank down there, and turn the basement into your "man cave".

I'd love to do something like that in my next house.

when my 560/g was delivered my wife freaked when 120x36x30 was hauled in through the front door. Now 6 months later I catch her looking and staring. Just give it some time.

Heck, when my tank turned out to too big and overwhelmed the bedroom I just kinda quietly "stored" it in the living room for a few days. When the family began commenting that it sorta looked pretty good out there I just gave them one of my best blank expressions and replied.... "you really think so?"

On top of that, since the bedroom now had this big empty space I wasted no time in contracting for this really sweet vivarium to fill up the space. Everyone was so busy watching me hook up the tank that they hardly noticed the tractor-trailer backing in a couple months later with yet another delivery.

Patience. My wife is slowly warming (maybe excepting) my 120. Although I didn't put it in "her" room. However, when it was first cycling and stinking up the house I was taking alot of heat.

Give it some time... when I first put a 180 in my condo, everyone thought it was too big. Now we actually wanna go bigger to cover the entire length of the wall..
