tank top ?

I have an old style 55 gallon tank with no center brace. About how thick of a piece of glass would I need to stretch the top without the glass breaking?

best to ask the glass shop...or go to an LFS and compare the thickness of glass you see there

? Would it be cheaper/more desirable to cut a piece of acylic from Home Depot?
