Hey everyone, just posting an update on my tank...and had a question. I'' getting little bubbles on my live rock, what are they exactly?

9 month old 40g Breeder, 2 clowns, 1 dottyback, 1 bi-color blenny, 2 nasaurius snails. Coralline spreading nicely though.

There are two clumps of bubbles forming on one of my rocks. You can also see my bi-color blenny sticking his head out on the left.

Here is the whole tank. Going to start getting softies in it within a few months. After I get a better clean up crew and the sand taken care of.

Its bubble algae. This is pretty typical with a new maturing tank. Be sure to keep your nutrient levels low to keep it from taking over.

One way to get rid of bubble algae is to turn off all the flow in your tank even the return pump. Then stick a siphon tube over the bubble and start the siphon. Once you've started the siphon pierce the bubble and the spores will be sucked out.

Be sure to remove the leftover bubble casing. Rinse and repeat for each new bubble that pops up.

The rock looks nice. Its maturing very well.

I took out my dottyback today and gave him to the lfs. I added 5 hermits today and he immediately began knocking them over and pecking at them. I need the crabs more than the fish so back he went. Anyone else have problems with dottybacks?
