Tank upgrade due to ich

I have a 220 gallon undrilled aquarium that has ich. I have moved all coral and inverts into a fishless 120 Gallon tank.and the few surviving fish into a 55 gallon tank to treat with cupramine. I have decided to take this time to buy a new reef ready aquarium so I moved all the rock into a 100 gallon stock tank that was my sump. I plan to fill the new tank with fresh water initially to test for leaks. Knowing that the stock tank with rock still has ich I am thinking of putting the rock back in the new tank while it is still filled with fresh water to kill the ich (sort of super hypo salinity). Will this work?

If you leave the rock fallow (fishless) for I think 72 days that will kill the cyst on the rocks. And to get rid of ich on the fish I would do the ttm. Other people know a lot more than me on the subject

it should kill the ich cysts within I think like 3 hours. however, to be certain why not just dry the rock completely out?
