Hey All,

I am going to be setting up a IM40 around a pair of saddleback clownfish. I want to have the clowns being the main showpiece of the tank along with a sabe anemone. I have the pair of clowns along with a blood red shrimp(going to get another one for a pair). I was thinking one more fish to go in the IM40 with the clowns. I was looking at some sort of blenny or goby? Maybe a goby/pistol pair? What would you guys add?

Thanks!

I would add a blenny and goby. Pistols are cool, though I havent had much luck keeping them. You even add a small angel, bicolor, flame, etc. or something of the sort.

I have the same tank and same clown. Only 1 though looking to get another. From this forum I learned the carpet anemone S. Haddoni is the most likely to host that species of clon. But if the sebae anemone is working for you then kudos! I also have the same shrimp, a coral beauty, and red fairy wrasse. Only the wrasse hets slightly aggressive but I believ I have some more room and so do you .

Thanks for the advice guys! I like the bicolor angel or lemon peel so I am going to get either one of those. I also like the starry blenny so I may get one of those as well. My saddle's are tiny but I hope they grow to look like the pic below. Such an amazing fish I am surprised they are not more popular.

I was looking into Hadonni but I thought they may be too difficult. Everyone says they are only for the advanced aquarist and are not hardy. Sabae also host the clowns and are easier but I may look into Hadonni. I have kept bubbluetips in the past briefly.

as long as there is enough rock a starry would be o.k but keep in mind starry's are aggressive with territory I love mine but don't go near his rocks or all hell break's lose

I figured the clowns are rough enough that they won't be given too much of a hard time by the blenny. But I have read that they can be "bossy". It's kind of why I wanted to get them. From my research saddleback's are on the maroon/tomato side as far as aggression.

Yes they are aggressive and also very rough with anemone. In the wild the sand for a haddoni is so deep that they can retract into it if they need to in order to protect themselves. They are notorious for mouth diving in their anemone

hmmm does anyone have experience keeping saddlebacks with sabe anemone? I thought I read they were a natural host but it seems most people keeping them haddoni....
