i bought 55 gallons of RO/DI water and i wanted to know if i can put tap water in the tank when i need to for when the water gets low ....... and i only do water changes with RO/DI water thow the tank only has live rock/live sand and 4 fish

I definitely wouldn't!!!

Who know's what kinds of impurities you would put in there by topping off with tap?

My uncle's tank crashed due to that reason; the copper level was through the roof. It killed every single piece of coral in his 220. It made him so upset, he sold his whole setup.

I would top off with your RO/DI. ;) How much did that set you back btw? Why not just buy an RO/DI unit? You can get one for 150 bucks nowadays. :)

Gotcha. The only thing to look for when buying RO/DI water is getting what you pay for. A properly functioning RO/DI unit will produce 0 TDS. I'd get a TDS meter and check it. Better yet, check it the next time you pick the new water up. If it's not 0 TDS then something's up. ;)

ok i had a seclone skimmer i took it back and i was checking would it be ok to hold of till next month to get better one becaues i want to use the money to buy rock

Probably, but you'll really need to do aggressive water changes. I'd get a skimmer on the system as soon as you can though. If it's for your 55g, a Remora Pro would be a good choice. Better than the SeaClone by leaps.

TDS meter? Is that the same as an Conductivity Monitor

Essentially, yes. TDS meters give your a reading in "parts per million" (PPM).
