Target feed ric's?

I have never kept any before, I was wondering if they would eat LPS pellets or if anyone target feeds them and what?

They don't need it, you can. I do it every once in a while just because I like to watch my corals eat! :D

LPS food, anything really that fits. They have big mouths. I turn off pumps to feed corals, then try to get some to every coral mouth in the course of a week. I have peppermint and pistol shrimps that make this a fun game. :)

Heh, anything that fits... I've seen my Ric open its mouth to sizes I could never fathom before I saw it actually do it. I'm constantly surprised how big it can open. One day it'll give birth to a human baby or something.

If you feed a hearty meal, just watch for a horrifying amount of excrement later. You'll probably just wake up one day and find this brown mass of jelly on your LR wondering what the heck happened.

Mine eats very small pieces of raw shrimp. The hardest part is keeping my anemone shrimp away. The rics eat so slow that it gives any other critters ample time to steal the food. Very annoying to say the least.

I used to feed my rics every two weeks using raw shrimp meat but it's difficult to prevent the yellow tang from stealing the meat. I must put my hands in the tank for nearly a hour to protect the rics so I use CORAL FRENZY and plancton mixture instead. It's easy because you only need to fill a syringe with these nutricious mixture and "shot" the fluid near the coral's mouth.

I feed my rics shrimp and some stuff called Reef Chile every couple of weeks. It seems like after a day or so they would swell up.

Did you see growth or color or more spiting when you were feeding your rics?

Yes, about two of my 30 Ric.florida will split every week if I feed them shrimp at intense frequency(twice every week) but they grow slower recently because I am busy so I just feed them liquid food.

I was wondering the same thing as well. I've seen video's on youtube of them eating.
I've fed mine for 2 times this week. Some of them show a feeding response, others didn't seem to take.

Like most reef fish, some rics aren't ready to take prepared food like shrimp meat, I usually put the meat on the ric's mouth for 20minutes and remove it when the ric refuses to eat. By doing this about 3~4times, most of my rics will feed on food I offer.
