this is my first time hosting a meeting so i have been cleaning like a mad man.i will be cooking meatballs in the morning then slow cooking them in crock pots till the meeting time.they will be super tender by time the meeting starts.i hope everyone likes them since im making 3lbs of them :D but i seriously doubt they wont go over well.if anyone has a foldup table please bring it,i moved my dining room table over so i can fit a second table in the dining room for all the food.see you all tomorrow.

Had a great time tonight. I can't wait for the next meeting. See you guys at Salt Lifers on the 4th.

Last night when I was adding the corals I got from the auction, I noticed on the piece of rock the had some blue mushrooms on it was a starfish. I put the piece in my sump for the night and this morning it was off the rock and on the glass. I will try to get a pic of it later for an ID. I believe the piece came from the auctioneers (forgot his name) tank. If you are reading this maybe you know the type of star that it may be. Again I will get a pic later.

If it was from me - I was standing by the tank with the white hat, I have two types of "starfish" in the tank.

The little brittle stars - very common, see them in almost every tank, good scavengers. The other kind are Asterina starfish, they look more like normal starfish but stay very small(under an inch across). I have never seen them go after anything living in the tank. People that come over always comment on the "baby starfish" and I personally don't mind them at all. Some people don't like them, so decide now before he has a chance to start making the babies.

I tried to get a picture, but where it is the pic will not come out and I cannot get to it at the moment. I will try again later.

While individual results may vary, I remove every asterina starfish I can find, cause they were eating my zoas. After they decimated a colony, I got a harley shrimp and that took care of them. All my zoas are happily recovered now.

I say prevention is better than cure.

The little brittle stars are harmless and beneficial.

^ I have done a few searches, but have not found this one yet. I think I am just going to remove it for safety sake. I have a friend who may want it for his tank anyway.

Thank you Chris and Keysha for opening up your home. A beautiful tank you have, your acans look great. The meat balls were great and they didn't last long.

I'd pull it out. If you decide you do want them, shoot me a PM. Much easier to put something into the tank, than try to remove it after the fact.

Thanks again to the hosts, sorry about messing up the PH in the tank :)
