Not only wiped out, but nowhere I have found any in the Gulf off Tampa.

There used to be thousands, now I cannot find even one.

Took a run offshore 19 miles to one of my favorite dive sites two weeks ago.....was a garden of Eden......now totally gone, everything....not one thing made it through the red tide offshore.

I got back on the boat and was really bummed out....but ran back in to my site....and it was a rare clear day underwater, and it was amazing to see all the rock and life there....I got real lucky with the red tide as it was not as deadly up close to shore where my site is...the ebb and flow of the tides kept just enough oxygen in the water to keep it alive.....unlike offshore where there was a 100% kill.

So yall with the brain corals need to get together with Brian and see about propagation.....we could sure use some youngsters on the reef here!

Richard,

I was going to ask you, would it be OK to put a sticky in your forum about people with TBS rock if they have the Manicina areolata? We are attempting to breed them and if we are successful then hopefully we can get more people breeding them.

I would love to be able to restock your reef site, but I'm guessing we would need to do some fun, fun, fun permitting work. I don't even know if the ones in my tank system could go back into the wild, they've been mixed with Pacific species.
