Is this a mis-understanding or what?

I have gotten several guys together here in Denver to place this order:

1 Peppermint
1 serpent star
1 Emerald Crab

2 Blue leg hermist (10 per group)
2 Peppermint
1 Turbo snail

4 peppermint

5 Peppermint
2 Emerald Crabs

5 Peppermint
2 Emerald Crabs

One of our LFS places here said they would pick it up when he goes to the airport to pick up other things. Usually Frontier only charges $25 shipping.

But the mail I get from TBS is as follows:
have everything but nudis and sallys....

there will be about $60 in fright charge as the airlines have a 100# minimum, so you have lots of room for more stuff...

Not to be a pain but can a TBS person clarify? Seveal people guys have told me that the Airlines do not have a minimum # per package requirement. The real important products we need are the Peppermint Shrimp to eat Glass Anenome's. We just want to spend money with TBS :)

Once again, Not Flaming just want to get these products (especially the Gulf Coast Peps).

Thanks in advance

its not that the package has to weigh 100 pounds, its that the airline is going to charge you for 100 pounds regardless of if the box weighs less. so in your case, your stuff is light but you are going to pay for shipping as if it was 100 pounds. TBS is saying basically you can add to your order for your benefit so the shipping cost doesnt seem like such a waste.

Correct!!

all shipping companys have minimum charges......Fed ex is $80 for up too 20 pounds to your door......airlines are $45-$65 per 100 pounds to an airport that has tropical fish freight service...you pick up at the airport....

We ship everything priority overnight, thus the cost.
We do not ship livestock any other way due to temperature and health of specimans concerns...

what if i just wanna order 2 pounds of decorator rock ?

can you send it ground ?

The TBS rock you would be ordering is a very different beast than typical live rock. It is harvested from the ocean and shipped out very quickly, loaded with the more delicate life that doesn't survive long travel times and rough handling. Shipping by ground would kill all of that and make the rock the same or worse than what you could pick up at your LFS.
As an aside, 2 lbs. of rock wouldn't be much more than fist sized (if that).

Just my 2 cents

TBS "Deco" rock is not just "rock" it's more like a "chunk of reef"
so if you sent it by ground and it took 4-6 days to get to you...

Yuck! :hmm5:

you would have a bag of dead stuff that would make even a medical examiner gag and barf!

think: this rock may have one or more
clams
shrimp
crabs
barnacles
bristle worms
tube worms
live fish (SOme of my rock had tiny gobies)
gorgonians
sponges
and hard corals like brain corals

would you order any of them with 5 day shipping??
