TDS calibration

That doesn't seem right to me....I want to make sure that my DI water is truly at zero before I add salt. Am I not correct in thinking that when you add salt solution your TDS is gonna be elevated by the elements added in the solution which would give an opportunity for unwanted dissolved solids to hide in a mixed solution....If you start with 0 TDS with RO/DI water you can say safely when you mix salt your ending elevated TDS is all solvents that belong there....

Here's Dr. Randy's DIY instruction for TDS meter calibration solution.

He prefers that we use salt water solution than freshwater solution.

Did you read it, Jennifer?

Its for salinity, not TDS. ;)

Is there a different one for TDS, Tomoko? Or is that the correct one, I just missed it?

Oops, I am sorry, I was thinking about refractometer. Someone was just asking about a refractometer on another thread.

I use a commercial (BRS's) calibration fluid for my TDS meter (the one made for TDS calibration.) I had to do this recently since my hand held TDS meter and my inline TDS meter did not agree with each other.
