tds count.?

I have RODI water and I just filled up a bucket to test TDS and it was 100. So I thought uh oh I have been using that. I retested 3 times with 3 different buckets and it was 0. But if I put 0 TDS water in this one bucket it always reads near 100.

Why would that be.?

What was stored in the bucket before you put water in it? It sounds like you are leaching something back in to the treated water from the walls of the bucket.

AZ is right - take samples for tds testing only in a squeeky clean glass container - a dry drinking glass right out of the dishwasher is typically fine.

I'm glad I sampled in the bucket Iwas going to use because it seems to have issues. If I used a clean glass I would not have caught that.

Thats true if you are only concerned with what is going in to the tank and not necessarily how the RO /DI is performing.
If the bucket in question has been used for water changes and making saltwater what you are seeing is probably salt residue which is safe. If it a brand new bucket or one that has had paint in it etc. you might want to use it for siphoning waste out of the tank only.
As for testing the condition of the RO/DI use the clean glass and not the buckets.

that makes sense. I do test the unit with a glass. The bucket that was an issues was my typical tank waste removal bucket. I usually clean them out but I bet it was salt junk in there..

Thanks
