TDS refuses to get to zero - help

For a few months now I have been having a problem with my RODI system. The water coming into the DI unit is 6, and then the output is always 1. Ive tried a new TDS meter, which gave me the same results. The DI resin wasnt exhausted as its color was still dark blue (and also only a few months old). I changed it out anyways for new DI, and the TDS meter is still reading one.

I really dont get it. I havent changed any filters in 11 months, which I will do soon, but I dont think thats the problem as the water going into the DI is 6ppm which is a pretty good reading going into the DI.

The water is extremely cold since this setup is in my basement and I am in New England, could that have any effect?

Ive called the company that makes this unit (thefilterguyz) and while they did try to help me by replacing the TDS meter thinking maybe it went bad, we were really able to find a solution.

What r u worried about? 1 tds is going to hurt your tank. It could be 1 ppm of cyanide and it would be fine. :)

Yeah I know that ive been using this water not for awhile, but still there is something wrong with new DI resin it should be zero

The DI unit may be channeling the water through it. First remove it, and shake it up a bit. Put it back and let it flush through for a few gallons then check it again. Or, because you don't say how old it is, just replace the DI. I understand the color change resin hasn't changed, that doesn't mean it's not releasing something. Don't count on the color change, count on the meter.

A diff of 1ppm is easily something produced by TDS meter variability. It could well be zero, but is just slightly off calibration. Even if you calibrate it with a solution, that solution could easily be 1ppm (or more) off. My calibration solution from BRS came in a bottle with enough air space to easily allow for a degree of water evaporation (thus changing the ppm of the solution).

I did change it out, the DI resin is fresh as of yesterday. The one previous to that I was saying that it wasnt exhausted and was fairly new and hadnt changed colors. But the important thing is the DI resin is brand new.

Also, I made sure to compact the resin in there very tightly, and ever few inches or so of filling it, i would tap the canister to make sure it settles good. I dont believe the water is channeling through at all

Find someone that has a RO/DI and see what reading you get on their water and see what reading you get on your water with theirs. That'll narrow things down.
