Tearing down tank

Due to lack of time (full-time work, 1/2 time school, dogs, lessons, etc) I no longer have the time to care for my fish and corals properly. I am selling off the livestock and everything in my tank at this time. Some is already out the door, but much is still available...including the tank and lights and much of the equipment.

I am switching to freshwater per my husband's request and dropping from the 90 gallon All Glass Aquarium (mega-flow) that I have now, down to a 55 gallon that I will purchase later. In the meantime, I have pumps, I have a few fish (including a 5" - 6" yellow tang), I have snails, hermit crabs, I have a couple corals, some live rock, and a few pumps and equipment. Once the tang is out, I will transfer everything else to a smaller tank and tear down the 90 gallon tank to prepare it for sale.

Oh, and I have a four foot T5 light fixture as well.

First come, first serve. Nothing is free, but everything is pretty much available. bekahr@dmin.net

Just a few:

U-shaped fox coral - $20
Bubble coral - $20 (about the size of a baseball?)
anthelias up the wazoo - $10 for the whole rock
3 mushrooms (2 brown, one green) on a rock - $10
Star polyps - $10

I think that's all that's left of the corals.

Fish:
5"-6" yellow tang
4.5" lawnmower blenny
1.5" firefish goby
black saltwater molly that's for some reason doing fantastically (free to good home!)

1 queen conch - negotiable
1 red/brown serpent sea star
1 coral banded shrimp

live rock, snails, hermit crabs

powerheads, pumps, UV filter ($20 needs new bulb)
1/2 a bucket of Tropic Marin salt mix

- Bekah (does that help any? *grin*)

What do you have for equipment and do you know what you will want for a price on the tank? I have a drilled 55 gallon and an undrilled 55, maybe we could work something out.

Let me add that Bekah has one of the most beautiful Yellow Tangs I've ever seen, not to mention it's HUGE and healthy!!!

Thanks for the rock Bekah!

Okay, Josh, NOW I'm blushing! *grin* And it looks like Fawn is the winner on the Tang! He goes home tomorrow morning.

Equipment: not much since most of it can be reused for freshwater, but I do have a UV Sterilizer for $20 (needs a new bulb more than likely!), and a few powerheads, maybe?

The tank is a 90 gallon All Glass Aquariums mega-flow overflow. That means that it's drilled in the bottom of the overflow with a 3/4" return and a 1-1/2" overflow - fully plumbed into a 22 gallon Oceanic sump. Which means the sump has baffles in it and a wet-dry plastic "option" that I've never used.

It was purchased in May of last year and has approximately 2 1/2 - 3" of deep sand bed in it now. It started out as 5" of course, but over the course of the year has diminished. It is time for me to replenish the sand bed which is one reason why I thought now that I have no more time, would be a GOOD time to sell it.

Pine stand with a pine cover. The lights are spoken for by Josh already. Sorry! :)

Tank, stand, cover, sand, and already hooked up plumbing: $400. My cost last year was $800. I'll throw in the return pump (Mag-12) for another $30. It's a Pond Master - 1200 gph.

Trade with a bit of cash thrown in would be considered IF the drilled 55 comes with an oak stained stand and canopy? :)

Whoops, I wasnt paying attention to the earlier replys. I was hoping maybe you had already given me the lights and i didnt know it yet.

Did you get the yellow tang from emporium pets? Just wondering because they used to have a big one there I had my eyes on for awhile.

Yes - the tang came from the Emporium. The T5's Josh, I have in your name now. They are an 8 bulb Nova Extreme with 432 watts 50/50...

And yes, the firefish is still available (if anyone can catch him!) for $10.

Oh and the tang went to his new home this morning. Congrats, Fawn, on your new pet! Hope the transfer went well!

Yep, Mr. Tang is in his new home and doing fine. definetly knows he's the biggest fish in the tank too ;) The clowns charge him after he's already passed by their rock/coral, pretty funny to watch :) He's nibbling a little on some seaweed on a clip, but seems more curious about the tank and establishing the fish hierchy right now.

Lee- I always seem to get the coral or fish you want ;) If the tang gets too big for my tank, you are welcome to him, as I know you're a good reefer and have a nice big tank. Might not be that long either, the fish is pretty big............

haha no prob , I already have a yellow tang, I was just curious because I had my eyes on him in the store for about 2 months(quite awhile ago). I'm glad to see that it is still doing good and is going to a good home.

LOL! Too funny! I want pictures, though!

And I think I have a buyer for the tank - she's probably picking it up this weekend...
