did i meet you at lazy river with farmer and myself at the table, mpcart?

That's me.

I remember you saying you'll run an open top. If that's the case then I don't think you'll have any heat problems.

yeah that was me, i was thinking the same since the heat dispursed wont be enclosed hopefully i wont have any issues.leaning towards the 8lamp fixture for endless possibilities.

If you are running an open top, 8 won't be a problem...However, not only heat but the 8 wouldn't even fit under my canopy just due to how deep it sits

You're running hot with T5's??? If I'm not mistaken they are the coolest running bulbs?

Is your fan working correctly? I had to turn my heater up on my 6x54 on my 72 gallon

It shouldn't be overheating...

Yes, they are cooler than say MH's but they do put out heat. Touch the top of a TEK light fixture after they have been running for several hours. The explanation is that the fixture is sitting directly on top of the eggcrate cover supported and the tank edge. This tank was setup for my mother and she doesn't want the light suspended from the ceiling by the cables because "it wouldn't look good.":rolleye1:

Even with the canopy lid open I have to have a fan blowing across the top of the fixture to keep the heat manageable. There is also a refugium light that is on 24/7 that contributes to the warmth.

I average between 80-82 during the day and since the corals I'm keeping are not light demanding I leave the other 2 bulbs off so I don't push it.
