Tek And LPS

Hey guys I am about to buy a Tek light fixture for my 28 bowfront. The tank is not setup yet but will soon be. I was mainly going to keep LPS and some Softies. Now that I am going into this Tek light I am wondering if it will be to much for them? Since I am getting the Tek light instead, I will probably put 2 or 3 easier SPS. Also it is a used fixture and comes with these bulbs 2 actinic plus bulbs, 1 65k, and one 11k...How is that setup?? I can live with it until the bulbs burn out if its not to my liking. They are ~6 Months old. Thanks!!

Edit: Forgot some important info the tank is 18" deep and I will not be hanging the fixture. I will use legs for it.

the setup sounds perfect... should work. most RC members are suggesting 1 bulb for every 3" of width on your tank. so, if your tank is 12"-16" wide, 4 bulbs would work perfectly. the combo of light is what everyone suggest on RC with the 2 blue+ on the outside and the 6500K sun & 11000K aquablue on the inside.

i have 3 by 39 t5ho on my tank, and my lps dont like it at all near the top. the sps do though..

i bet the 2 actinics one aquablue and one 6500 day will work fine.

if you stay away from the ge 6500 day bulbs and get 2 aquablue 11ks, you might be better off...

i ahve 2 ati blues and one ge6500k and my tank is 17" high...

but i do have aqualux reflectors, which are better for par than tek reflectors, esp at further down in the tank, so, your tek might be just fine.

what brand of 6500k is it? if its the ge, that is the best bulb for PAR strength. and the 11k aquablues are better than the ati 6500k i do recall.

the fact there are 2 actinicis may really help

I am not sure on the brand of the bulbs... How deep is your tank?? Man... I wonder if I am better off going with a little cheaper fixture like the Nova HO

No get the Tek. The reflectors are key and having owned one now since they first came out, I can't say enough good things about it.

I have 8 bulbs over a 18" width tank. My LPS are fine with it at any depth. Your lighting scheme is perfect IMO, I run exactly what you are proposing times two. :)
