Tek t5 vs. any others

Why is Tek so much better than, say, the Nova Extreme? Is it the reflectors? For a 40b, would it be that noticeable of a difference in a 4 bulb unit?

I've been told it isn't better than aquactinics, I think aquactinics has better reflectors & a fan built into the fixture.

Does anyone know how the aquactinics reflectors compare to Icecap reflectors?

yes, the nova extreme has just a single reflector and the tek has individual reflectors which makes a big difference on the t5's . to me the t5 fixtures with the single reflector like the nova extreme look like power compacts and your loosing alot of light that you could have with the individual reflectors.

I wouldn't waste my money on single reflector T5 unless you have a fish only tank.

Well, I'm trying to have a softie, LPS tank. It's a 40b, so it's not that deep of a tank. It's just that the Nova is sooo much cheaper. But thanks for the input... I'll just have to start saving for the Tek.

What about the 8 bulb Ice-Cap retro-fit in a 14" high canopy vs the Aquatinics Solar Flare 6-bulb fixture hanging inside the canopy?

Basically, if its got individual reflectors, and isnt a Tek, its better than the tek. The tek is better than everything that doesnt have individual reflectors.



Bassist, the nova isnt cheaper.

Why? Because you'll get much more light from a 2 bulb Tek/etc than you will from a 4-6 bulb Nova.
