Telephoto Macro

Is this a typical standard macro lens (what you guys refer to on here as a macro lens)?

I am thrown off by the term "telephoto." Does that mean it is more like a zoom? I am new to DSLR

If they aren't the same then what is the difference?

Yes, it's a macro. Look under the specs you see a magnification of 1:1.

Telephoto = focal length around 100mm - 200mm or so.
Zoom = a lens that can change focal length
Prime = a lens that only has one focal length
Macro = a lens that has a 1:1 magnification (made possible because it is designed to take pictures of things close to it)

So, the Canon 100mm prime lens you are looking at is a macro, telephoto, prime lens.
