Temp Fan control...

I need to turn on a bunch of fans when water temp gets too high...

I can also base it on air temp.

I am not running a controller....how can I get it done cheap?

Not sure what you mean by "cheap", but I use 2 of the 4" digital temp. controlled Ice Cap fans and they work great on my 75g. with 4 T5's with SLR reflectors and run by an Ice Cap 660. My temp alway stays between 77 and 78 degrees all year round. My house stays between 74 and 77. Hope that helps

You may want to talk to someone at Radio Shack. I believe there are Thermal Switches that can be used, you will have to do a little wiring but I'm sure it can be done, specially with 12 volt fans. Most of the adjustable 110 volt thermal switches I have seen will cost ya.

I was hoping to pull it off for 110v fans.

I would like to spend less than $50 for the sensor/switch.

If Air temp driven, I guess I would have it kick on at 77

I would prefer water temp driven, I would have it kick on at 80. I will have 8 tanks that I need to have fans on... I can not afford $80 a tank for a single stage temp controler, or $130 for a dual stage (preferred).

What you need is a low voltage (9-24) temp switch controlling a low over high voltage relay that controlles 110 volts to the fans.
Similar to how a thermostat controls an A/C unit for the house.

Look at tempeture control units for home brewing. I think they are cheap; however, they are air driven but you can control your 110 volts just fine. Do a google search I believe something will come up. If not I can find out some more info for you. I know a bunch of people who homebrew.
