temp probe problem

Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a little problem I am having with my temperature probe. I've owned the Profilux Plus II for about a year now and my temp probe had worked great. Yesterday I came back to find that the ALARM!!! indicator was flashing, and that my temp probe reading was ***.

I hooked the controller up to my PC and took at look at it from that perspective, and the PC program says that the temp probe is locked on a reading of 103.82 F. I'm guessing this all means the probe went bad or something, because there was no physical damage to it (and the fish certainly aren't boiled).

If anyone has any suggestions shy of replacing it, please share! I currently have no temp control for the aquarium, so for now I'm just running the house thermostat to keep the air temp at about 75 degrees. Thanks!

Hi

Well the good news is we have never yet seen a temp probe ever go bad in nearly 4 years, so I would suspect there is a more simple explanation. If you can email us at sales@aqua-digital.com we can talk you through to get you back up and running.

I deal with temperature probes in my work and I have seen spuriously high readings when conductive fluid (think salt water) made its way to the conections. You might check for moisture or salt creep near the connector.

Good news - Michael helped me resolve the problem. It was as simple as turning off all power to the Profilux system, disconnecting the temp probe, reconnecting it, and then powering back on.

The powering off part must have done the trick, because I had previously tried disconnecting/reconnecting the probe with the power on (didn't work). So anyways, thanks to Michael and thanks for the recommendation GoToSleep.
