Temp Question

Hello All,

I am becoming more and more interested in setting up a NPS tank in my fish room as my other tanks are somewhat in autodrive atm..

To that point I have an extra 90g that I am prepared to use for this project as well as all the other needed gear.

Question is, what is the target temp for a succesful NPS tank? I am guessing a bit cooler than our tropical tanks, but not sure. I would appreciate yrou thoughts.

Thanks!

Cooler is better. I run mine at 78.5. I wish I could drop it to 76 but I need a chiller. That is the best I can do with my fan set up. If I ever stop buying corals maybe I could get one. LOL Interesting question, I wonder what other are running their Azoox (just for you Mike) tanks at?

For some reason I was under the impression that it was much cooler. I have an extra chiller that I can use if need be, but if not neccesary......

I'm a very green rookie at this, but, as summer ends, I'm planning to drop my temp to 75. My corals seem to be much more comfortable at that temperature, the few days I've been able to keep it that cold. When the temp gets to 80, they tend to close up and stay closed. I'm currently averaging 77-78.

For me: Temperature runs between 70°- 72°F. If you can keep it in the mid 70's you will be fine.

Mike,

So you are intentionally moving it that low or is that just the result of ambient temp for you.

Again, extra chiller is avail and I am really looking to get it set for what will be the best for the corals.

Thanks!

I can keep the tank in the mid 70's just by ambient (temp in my home is maintained at 68 during the summer and even lower in the winter) but I intentionally maintain my tank that low.
