Temp readings is still off

Curt,

From the previous thread, i got the pH and ORP readings correct now, after I bought the ground isolated serial.

But the temperature readings are still not correct. Basically the Aquacontroller is "stretching" the temperature range more than actually is.

So, when the temp is 79, the Aquacontroller tells me it's 77. And when the temp is 81, the aquacontroller tells me it's 83. I am using a Medusa, a chiller temp display and a manual precision digital thermometer for these tests.

What is causing this and how can it be fixed? I am having the Aquacontroller paging me all the time unecessarily because it thinks the temp is 77 when it is actually 79 and it thinks the temp is 84 when it is actually 82.

There appears to be a consistent 2 degree jump - it is likely correlated with something turning on around your tank. Turn on event logging in AquaNotes, and shorten the log interval on the AquaController to say 5 or 10 minutes. It should then be quite easy to look at the logs and see what device is causing the interference.

I'm not sure what you mean, the graph represents a week's time frame, not a one day time frame. But I enabled the event log and changed the log interval to 5 minutes.

What should I do next?

When you have enough data in the log graph it and look for correlation with some appliance turning on/off and the changing temperature. Alternatively you can turn off appliances around your tank and see if there is any effect the temperature reading.
Once the interfering device is found possible solutions include:
- routing cords different.
- Moving the location of device and/or temperature probe.

Curt,

I just tried to move the probe to another location and some piece of plastic fell off the tip of the probe. Now it's reading 68 degrees. I have no doubt this probe is defective.

Needless to say that after spending almost $1,000.00 in your product I'm extremely disappointed with all the problems I am having with it.

How do I get a replacement for this defective probe?
